LLRC resumes its sittings

The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) that had earlier announced that it had concluded its public sittings is to conduct public sittings once again.

LLRC spokesman Lakshman Wickremasinghe told Tamil Mirror Online yesterday that Dr. Chatura De Silva, Senior Lecturer of the Moratuwa University’s Department of Computer Science, would testify before the commission tomorrow.

He said that Dr. Chatura De Silva would provide expert opinion to the Commission on the video footage shown over Channel 4 of alleged war crimes committed by Sri Lankan soldiers during the war against the LTTE.

The LLRC had earlier concluded its public sitting and announced that it had started to write its final report.

The Commission was to submit its report to President Mahinda Rajapaksa before May 15. But the government has now extended the Commission’s term by another six month
